This page is about Halifax, Massachusetts — the small town in Plymouth County on the South Shore, bordered by Plympton, Hanson, Kingston and Pembroke, and built around the Monponsett lakes. Not Halifax, Nova Scotia. We mention it because search engines confuse the two constantly, and because we are actually here: our office is at 648A Plymouth St, Halifax, MA 02338. If you are handing over keys somewhere in Halifax Center or out on Monponsett, we are the crew that is already down the road.

“Deposit-ready” is not a marketing phrase, it is a standard: the house has to survive being looked at while it is completely empty, with every light on and nothing left to hide behind. That is a much harder test than a regular clean, and it is the only test that matters on handover day.
In practice it means three categories of work. Everything that opens gets cleaned inside — oven, refrigerator, every cabinet, every drawer, the vanity, the medicine cabinet. Everything that was covered gets cleaned now that it is exposed — baseboards behind furniture, closet floors, the wall beside the stove. And everything that gets inspected but never cleaned gets handled — behind the toilet, window tracks, slider tracks, baseboard heat covers, the back of a radiator.
Most of the cleaning companies ranking for Halifax, MA are not in Halifax. Some are not in Plymouth County. At least one is not in Massachusetts. Being based in town is not a slogan for us, it is the reason the logistics work: no hour-long drive eating the morning, no crew that has never seen this housing stock, and a real address and a real phone number you can check.
Year-round single-family homes, capes and ranches, plenty of them with baseboard heat or radiators and a full basement. Standard move-outs, and the ones we do most.
The lake side of town, around East and West Monponsett. Different houses, different problems — walk-out basements, sliders to a deck, screened porches, and sand and pollen tracked in over years. More on that below.
Halifax borders all four, and plenty of moves cross the town line rather than leave the area. We work all of them on the same route, so a move from Halifax to Kingston can be one booking covering both ends.
Written out in the order a walkthrough actually happens, so you can hand it to a landlord, a buyer's agent or a property manager.
If you are renting in Halifax, the rules on your deposit come from Massachusetts state law — M.G.L. chapter 186, section 15B. It is worth knowing two parts of it before handover day, because most tenants do not, and most disputes come from that.
A landlord may deduct for unpaid rent, certain unpaid tax increases, and the reasonable cost of repairing damage the tenant caused — but the statute specifically excludes reasonable wear and tear. Faded paint, worn traffic paths on a carpet, small nail holes and the ordinary aging of a unit you lived in are not damage. A filthy oven is a different conversation, which is exactly why the cleaning is worth doing.
A landlord who keeps any part of the deposit for damage has to provide an itemized list of what the damage is and what repairing it costs, with written evidence, sworn to under the pains and penalties of perjury, within 30 days of the end of the tenancy. That obligation is your protection. Help it along: photograph every room the day you hand over the keys, empty and clean, with the date on the file.
This is general information about public Massachusetts law, not legal advice. Read your own lease and, if there is real money in dispute, talk to a lawyer.
A house near East or West Monponsett has features a Halifax Center ranch simply does not, and they are the ones that get missed.
Sand and grit collect in the slider track and at the threshold and stay there for years. It is visible, it is easy to check, and it reads as neglect. The walk-out entry, its stairs and its landing count as part of the house on handover day.
Nobody cleans a screened porch until they are leaving. Pollen on the screens, leaf debris in the corners, a floor that has not been washed in a season or two.
Cobwebs, the floor around the furnace and water heater, and whatever got stored down there and stayed. We clean it; we do not haul it. Book a junk removal service for the day before.
Dust and pet hair pack in behind the covers and along the fins. It is the classic “ran a finger along it” spot, and it takes almost no time if you know to do it.
There is no price on this page. A two-bedroom ranch in Halifax Center and a four-bedroom lake house with a walk-out basement, a screened porch and a utility room are not the same job, and a number quoted in the dark goes wrong in both directions: quote low and we are asking you for more on handover morning, quote high and you are paying for a house we imagined instead of the one you have. We would rather look at it. That is the whole policy.
This is the practical advantage of being based at 648A Plymouth St rather than an hour up Route 3: an estimate visit in Halifax is a short drive, not a project. If the house is out on Monponsett, that matters even more, because the walk-out entry, the slider tracks and the screened porch are exactly the spaces you cannot describe accurately over the phone.
If you have already handed over the keys or moved out of state, send video instead — from you, your realtor or a neighbor. Film the oven with the door open, the refrigerator with the door open, the cabinet under the kitchen sink, each bathroom, the slider track and threshold at the deck door, the walk-out entry and its stairs, the screened porch floor and screens, the laundry area, and the utility room floor around the furnace and the water heater. That is enough for a quote we can stand behind.
Send the Halifax address, bedrooms and bathrooms, and your closing or key-handover date to (857) 247-1423, and tell us whether you want us to stop by or you would rather send video. The quote is free, there is nothing attached to it, and it is for your house rather than an average of everyone else's. Full scope is on our move in / move out cleaning page.
Two timelines dominate Halifax move-outs, and they need different bookings.
Selling. The buyer's final walkthrough usually happens the morning of the closing, sometimes the evening before. The clean has to be finished before that walkthrough, not before the closing — those are different deadlines and people mix them up. Give us the walkthrough time and we will work back from it.
Renting. Keys go back on a fixed date and the landlord frequently inspects the same day. Here the constraint is the truck: we cannot do a move-out clean around furniture and get a deposit-ready result, so the clean goes after the truck leaves. Keep power and water on until we are done — without either, the job cannot happen.
My Best Cleaning USA is family-run and based at 648A Plymouth St in Halifax, MA 02338, serving the South Shore and Plymouth County. We are insured, and if your landlord, property manager or realtor wants a certificate of insurance before we are let in, ask and we will arrange it.
On Google we are rated 5.0 — from ten real reviews. Ten is a small number and we are not going to inflate it. They are ten real jobs for real people around here, and you can read every one of them yourself.

Halifax is our base, and the four towns on our borders are the rest of the daily route: Plympton, Hanson, Kingston and Pembroke. Moving into one of them? A lot of customers book the move-out here and a deep clean on the new place before the boxes arrive.
It removes the most common reason a landlord withholds money, but nobody can promise you a deposit back — that depends on rent, damage and your lease. Under M.G.L. c.186 §15B a landlord cannot deduct for reasonable wear and tear, and has to send an itemized, sworn statement within 30 days for anything they do keep. Clean the unit, photograph it empty on handover day, and you have a strong position. This is general information, not legal advice.
As soon as you have a closing date, even a tentative one. The end of the month is the busiest stretch of our schedule, and closings cluster on the 1st and the last business day. Tell us the buyer's walkthrough time too, not just the closing time — the clean has to be finished before the walkthrough, which is often the morning before you sign.
All three are included. They are literally the first three things opened in a walkthrough, so treating them as extras would make no sense in a move-out clean. Racks come out of the oven, shelves and drawers come out of the fridge, and cabinets and drawers are cleaned inside including the top shelf.
Yes, and please tell us when you book so we schedule the hours for it. Walk-out basements, slider tracks, screened porches and outdoor entries are on our Halifax checklist for exactly this reason. If it has genuinely been years, send a couple of photos with your quote request so the estimate is real rather than optimistic.
Often, yes, and an empty house is our preferred version of the job. Two conditions: the truck needs to be out with enough daylight left, and the power and water have to still be on. If the movers run late, call us — we would rather move your slot than clean around a couch and hand you a result that fails the walkthrough.
Yes. A good share of our Halifax move-outs are for people who have already left Massachusetts. We can meet a realtor, a landlord or a property manager at the door, or use a lockbox code. Give us the contact's name and number when you book, and make sure they know the date and window we are coming.
